Stop 6 Carnarvon Gorge

2 nights

We had been given some good reviews on how beautiful this area is, with a good caravan park with wide views of the area, and Sandstone Park didnt disappoint although camping amongst a herd of cattle wasnt something that I expected.

The first evening we walked several Kilometres up to the rock pools hoping to see a Platypus but alas we were not rewarded with seeing one, but the walk along the creek through the forest with towering white sandstone cliffs was a delight, with birds song accompanying you all along the way.

The next day we headed off along the main walk with the plan of getting as far as we could, the full 20 plus kilometre main walk was never something our aging and unfit bodies were going to achieve, but we managed about 12 kilometres and saw the majority of the highlights.
